(More customer reviews)The place selling this is really on the ball with their shipping, and I deal with ebay, and Amazon sellers on a day to day basis. I sell them products for their shipping, and packing needs. So the shipping part of the transaction was great, the package was waiting at my door a couple days after placing my order.
What I was looking for here, was a cheapo/entry level alternative (to more expensive acoustic/electrics) to take with me on my frequent road trips, something I could bang around a little and not worry about. For $[...] bucks, I wasn't expecting top quality by any means, but what we have here, is something so below even entry level standards that it's almost unbelievable.
One thing that I would like to be clear about, is that I am not blaming the seller, they deal in all kinds of products, and probably know next to nothing about musical instruments.
So let me go through the list here for prospective buyers:
. the finish is totally screwed. Over spray everywhere, runs in the seams, and what I can only describe as a polyurethane burn mark on the fret board. I could go on and on here, but you get the idea...
. The overall construction was sloppy, it reminds me of one of those cheap little ukes they sell down in Tijuana. The parts appear to be a shim and force job, rather than anything close to match condition, or even a moderate trim and fit job. You can even see spots that were cracked and filled with "paint" and finished over. The nut looks like it was cut from a piece of window molding or something, and the bridge is so flimsy I was terrified to put any tension on the strings when trying to tune it (always replace the strings right away on any guitar or bass). The frets are crooked, and the spacing is off, not to mention that no attempt was made to smooth out the edges, no real surprise since I had a couple Fender Squiers years ago that had the same problem, just not to this extent. Btw, the head stock on this thing is HUGE, which makes it look all the more odd on such a short scale bass with a small body, btw, you can see the cheap zip ties they have the wires bound with sticking out the sound hole.
. Can't tune it, the tone is so bad, and the materials and hardware so poor, that this thing was hard to tune even with something as simple as a Boss Tu-80. Not to mention that it fell out of tune within minutes. The improper spacing and crookedness of the frets didn't help either with trying to play it. The sounds this thing produces unplugged, are similar to the grunts of an African low land Gorilla trying to breed with a Giraffe. Amped, it sounds something like David Hassellhoff in between that same Gorilla and Giraffe. I have a digitech rp 1000 that I use for messing around on guitar, so I plugged this thing into it.... interesting for terrorizing the neighbors heh, which is about as much fun as I got out of this thing.

Like I said, for $[...] bucks, I wasn't expecting much, but this is bad. You would do better to go with a Dean EAB for about 50 bucks more + shipping, or head to guitar center where they are sure to have one sitting around in the back somewhere (if you can deal with the stuck up sales guy ignoring you). Quality wise this thing isn't even in the entry level range, and I question if it would even belong in the toy department since I'm not sure how much lead this thing has in it.
